Kung Fu – The Legend Continues (1993) TV Series Project
Hello, I am far enough into my next project to announce it. I have been working on Kung Fu – The Legend Continues TV Show for over a month now. Kung Fu – The Legend Continues had 4 Seasons total. Seasons 1 and 2 are available on DVD, Seasons 3 and 4 have not been released as of yet. There are 22 episodes per season. The only available copies of them have been horrible TV Rips. I found higher quality German HD TVRips and have been inserting and syncing up the English audio into each episode, it has pretty much been the same process as the Mystic Knights, except way harder lol.
So far it has been a ton of work for each episode. Each German episode shows as being PAL 25 FPS, but for some reason they play just as NTSC 29.97 FPS. Usually you have to convert the NTSC audio to PAL which speeds it up about 4%, but so far almost every episode has worked with all the NTSC 29.97 audio, there have been some episodes that actually ran in PAL and I had to convert the audio. It has made no sense lol.
Not only has syncing the audio been a lot of work but I found out that a lot of German episodes were missing scenes here and there, some episodes were missing multiple sections of video and had to be pieced together with snippets taken from another source. Luckily I found a collection of episodes from Bulgaria that were also in decent quality to fill most of the gaps, not all the episodes were there unfortunately and I had to use the lower quality videos available.
I also found that a lot of the US TVRips were missing footage of the show, or the audio was either messed up or went blank and was missing some of the English Dialogue. The Bulgarian episodes actually had the English audio but somebody talked over it and you can’t hear what was said sadly.
Luckily a user from Reddit, not sure if he wants to be named lol, had his own recordings of the show from TV that are in much better quality than the common TVRips and had almost all the missing English audio. The only ones missing so far is Season 3 Episode 1, he didn’t have that recorded, and Season 4 Episode 2.
Thankfully he uploaded them all for me to continue this project or else a lot of the episodes would have been missing audio and would have required translation from German and subtitles made.
Season 3 Episode 1 is missing a big chunk of the beginning before the intro plays, so far no English version has been found. There is also a scene near the end when Peter is talking to his father Caine and the episode glitches and loses what was said. Thankfully somebody from Germany on Reddit has helped translate it so I can make subtitles for that episode.
Season 4 Episode 2 has all the audio but the episode that the guy from Reddit recorded had a narrator promoting a show talk over somebody else talking, I was able to piece together what was said and just recorded the line myself lol. My microphone isn’t the greatest.
I am halfway through Season 4 so hopefully they will all be done soon.
I will be creating a BluRay collection of Seasons 3 and 4 and possibly getting some T-Shirts made.
